Community Fund – Rhubarb Farm – February Update

Just at the time Storm Doris hit Rhubarb Farm and demolished our old heated polytunnels we had some fantastic news!

NT Killingley Ltd, the award-winning commercial landscape and earthworks contractor based in Chesterfield, has made Rhubarb Farm their voluntary organisation of the year for 2017. The company will support us with landscaping and building materials over the year, and this will be a great boost for all our different activities.

This support came about because Killingley, like Rhubarb Farm, will be having a show garden at The Chatsworth Flower Show from 7-11th June and they wanted to support a local organisation also doing the Show.

Killingley’s have already delivered to us the materials to complete our half built hot house, a project abandoned due to lack of materials and funds to buy them,  which means we can get on with the sowing and not be reliant on the weather being kind to us!

Another great boost for us at this dreary time of year, is that we have 2 brand new customers for our delicious produce. One a local restaurant and the other a local, 4 star hotel, who will both be using our produce to launch their new summer menu’s. We have had visits from the head chef’s of both establishments who are very supportive of the work we do here and the people we support, we cannot wait to see the finished menu’s and sample them of course!
